LEDVANCE Works with Home Assistant is now official: on 13 October 2026 the lighting maker joined the certification programme with 116 SMART+ devices. All of them use Matter over Wi-Fi, so they connect straight to Home Assistant with no proprietary hub or Thread border router.

What has changed with LEDVANCE and Home Assistant?

Home Assistant's 13 October announcement says LEDVANCE brings 116 certified devices to Works with Home Assistant, the programme that tests products for local control and long-term support. Matter Alpha reports it as one of the largest single-manufacturer lineups so far, taking the database to 517 certified devices.

The certified range covers most of the SMART+ line:

Product typeExamples named in the announcement
BulbsFilament-style bulbs, spotlights
Fixed lightingRecessed and track downlights, ceiling and wall lights, floor lamps
StripsFlexible LED strips
Outdoor and wet areasIP-rated floodlights and garden spots
ControlSMART+ Plug, smart wall switches

Most of the lighting is tunable white or full colour. Home Assistant's team tested each device with its own Matter integration over a normal Wi-Fi connection, on top of standard Matter lab certification. LEDVANCE has also committed to local operation without a cloud dependency and to long-term support.

Why does this matter for Home Assistant users?

It means a large, branded range of Wi-Fi lights now has a tested path into Home Assistant that needs nothing but your router. Matter over Wi-Fi devices join your network directly and are controlled locally through the Matter Server, so there is no bridge to buy, no Zigbee coordinator and no Thread network to build first.

The practical value is in the testing. Matter certification alone does not guarantee every feature behaves the same across platforms, which is why the extra Home Assistant check matters. If you are new to the protocol, our Home Assistant Matter setup guide covers commissioning by QR code, and the Matter devices UK guide explains what works today.

The trade-off is Wi-Fi itself. Every bulb is a separate Wi-Fi client, so a house with dozens of lights can strain a basic router in a way Zigbee lighting does not. Our Zigbee vs Wi-Fi guide sets out when each makes sense.

Are LEDVANCE Matter lights available in the UK?

Partly confirmed. Neither the Home Assistant post nor Matter Alpha says which of the 116 products are sold in the UK, or at what price, so check the certified list against UK retailers before buying.

What we can see is that LEDVANCE sells SMART+ bulbs here. Box UK has listed a SMART+ Matter Classic A60 9W E27 colour bulb at £7.99, though that snapshot may be out of date. Several other UK listings, such as a 9W E27 Wi-Fi bulb at lights.co.uk, are older SMART+ Wi-Fi models that we could not confirm as Matter, so look for the Matter label on the box.

What don't we know yet?

The announcement gives no firmware details, no model-by-model feature notes and no timeline for certifying more products. We have not tested any of these devices, so how fully features such as effects or tunable white behave through Matter in Home Assistant is unverified. Our expectation, not a LEDVANCE statement, is that you will get standard light controls and that any app-only extras stay in LEDVANCE's own app.

Should you buy now or wait?

Buy now if you want inexpensive hub-free Matter bulbs and have a Wi-Fi network that copes with extra clients. Wait for UK pricing and independent reviews if you need a specific fitting such as a downlight or outdoor floodlight, because availability is not confirmed. Frequently asked questions

Does LEDVANCE work with Home Assistant?
Yes, for the certified range. LEDVANCE joined Works with Home Assistant on 13 October 2026 with 116 SMART+ devices, including bulbs, downlights, floor lamps, LED strips, outdoor floodlights, a plug and wall switches. All of them use Matter over Wi-Fi and are controlled locally through the Home Assistant Matter integration, with no proprietary hub or Thread border router required. Home Assistant says it tested each device itself on top of standard Matter certification. The caveat is that older SMART+ Wi-Fi bulbs without Matter support are not part of this certification, and the announcement does not list UK availability, so check the certified device list and the Matter label on the box before you buy.
Do LEDVANCE Matter bulbs need a hub?
No. According to the Home Assistant announcement, all 116 certified LEDVANCE products use Matter over Wi-Fi, which means each device joins your home Wi-Fi network directly and connects to Home Assistant through its built-in Matter Server. You do not need a Zigbee coordinator, a LEDVANCE bridge or a Thread border router. The practical caveat is that every bulb becomes its own Wi-Fi client, so a home with many lights needs a router that copes with lots of connections, and a weak signal at the fitting will affect reliability. If you already run a Zigbee network, a hub-based bulb may still scale more comfortably across a whole house.
Are LEDVANCE SMART+ Matter lights sold in the UK?
LEDVANCE sells SMART+ bulbs through UK retailers, and Box UK has listed a SMART+ Matter Classic A60 9W E27 colour bulb at £7.99, although that listing may be out of date. However, neither the Home Assistant announcement nor Matter Alpha says which of the 116 certified products are on sale in the UK, or what they cost. Several UK listings are older SMART+ Wi-Fi models that we could not confirm as Matter. Before buying, compare the certified device list with UK retailers and check the box or product page for the Matter logo, particularly for downlights and outdoor fittings where UK stock is unconfirmed.

›How we researched this

Claims in this article are checked against primary sources — manufacturer specifications, official documentation, Which? research, Ofgem guidance, or gov.uk — rather than forum threads or video reviews. Where the author has direct hands-on experience with a product (most Home Assistant, Zigbee, and home-networking gear is running in his own homelab), that is stated explicitly in the text.

For categories outside that personal setup — such as boilers, heat pumps, and other areas that are traditionally a heating engineer's domain — verdicts are built from cross-referenced manufacturer data, published lab results, and vetted expert and owner reviews rather than a claim of personal hands-on testing. See the editorial policy for the full methodology.
