The premium retrofit: rather than clipping onto the outside like a SwitchBot Curtain or Blind Tilt, this motor replaces the internal mechanism, sliding inside the roller tube (38–51mm, or 25–30mm on the smaller-tube variant) so no chain is visible. Eve publishes no maximum fabric weight, only torque — 1.1Nm large-tube, 0.5Nm small — fine for typical UK roller blinds but tight on heavy blackout fabric over wide windows. Fitting means removing the blind and swapping mechanisms, a 15-30 minute job, not a clip-on. At £179.95 it costs roughly double a SwitchBot Curtain for a cleaner, cordless result. Needs a Thread border router such as an HA Connect ZBT-2.

In Home Assistant

ControlTypeWhat it does
PositionCover (0-100%)Set/report blind position via the Matter window-covering cluster; supports open, close, stop, and set-position calls.
Battery levelSensor (%)Percentage battery remaining — the motor is internally battery-powered, USB-C rechargeable.
Battery voltageSensorRaw battery voltage reading alongside the percentage sensor, useful for spotting cells aging faster than the percentage estimate suggests.
Firmware versionSensorReports current motor firmware; relevant because pairing reliability and calibration behaviour differ notably between shipping firmware and later OTA updates.
IdentifyButtonTriggers the motor's identify behaviour to confirm which physical blind an entity corresponds to during setup.

Home Assistant's Matter integration exposes the standard window-covering cluster, but the motor won't respond to open/close/set-position commands until top and bottom limits are calibrated with the USB power cable attached — calibrating without power connected makes the blind wiggle as if calibrating, but silently discards the position, leaving Home Assistant reporting a fully-open state that doesn't match reality. Initial Thread commissioning has also tripped up early adopters: some units ship on firmware that fails QR-code pairing straight into HA and need a first pairing through the Eve or Google Home app to pull an OTA update before direct HA/Thread commissioning succeeds reliably.
