The budget wired-in retrofit option: this two-channel WiFi relay switches to 'roller shutter' mode and drives any existing corded/wired blind or curtain motor from behind the wall. HA's native Shelly integration talks to it directly over the LAN with no cloud round-trip, and it's a fraction of the price of the Z-Wave alternative here — the trade-off is WiFi congestion instead of a dedicated mesh. At 37 x 42 x 16mm it's rated 10A per channel (16A total, 240V AC), plenty for a standard shutter motor. Not an official 'Works with Home Assistant' badge holder — Shelly hasn't joined that scheme — but HA's own integration is Platinum-quality core code. Needs a neutral wire.

Plus 2PM runs the same RPC-based cover component as the Gen3 unit — it is not a stripped-down, purely time-calibrated implementation; the calibration run still derives a power threshold for stall/obstruction detection, and HA still surfaces live wattage through the run. The real quirk is the profile switch itself: flipping the device from switch mode to cover mode reboots the device and merges the two independent switch entities into one cover entity, so any automations, scenes, or dashboards keyed to the old switch entity IDs silently break and must be rebuilt, not just recalibrated. It also exposes a wired safety-switch input pair for physical end-stop limit switches to back up the power-based cutoff.
