Zigbee2MQTT exposes real percentage position rather than just open/close/stop, but only once travel calibration is run — either holding the physical button for automatic timing, or a manual sequence confirming fully open and fully closed — and a calibration-status flag lets an automation check that calibration actually completed before trusting position-based scenes. Some batches hit a cluster error during initial pairing, and open/close direction is occasionally reported inverted out of the box, both fixable in software rather than rewiring. An external-trigger-mode setting also lets it adapt to edge, pulse, or following-style wired switches, so the existing physical switch keeps working exactly as before once the relay is fitted behind it.
