SwitchBot Curtain 3 (U-Rail)
- Bluetooth
Verified September 2026
Identical certified hardware and firmware to the Rod version we already list — this is just the rail-clip adapter for U-shaped curtain track, more common in UK new-builds and rented flats than a plain pole. It handles curtains up to 15kg and runs on a 3350mAh battery rated for roughly 8 months per charge (SwitchBot's own test: one cycle a day on an 8kg curtain), with an optional Solar Panel 3 accessory that tops it up indefinitely off a few hours of daylight. Only worth listing separately because the wrong rail adapter won't clip on; if you already own the Rod version's clip kit, this isn't a different product.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Position | Cover (0-100%) | Open/close/stop and set-position; values above 95% and below 5% are clamped to fully open/closed. |
| Battery | Sensor (%) | Bluetooth-only — updates when the device is in direct range of the HA host or a Bluetooth proxy. |
| Light level | Sensor | Coarse ambient light reading from the onboard sensor, also Bluetooth-only. |
| Movement speed | Config (app-only) | Set in the SwitchBot app, not exposed as an HA entity; trades travel speed against motor noise and mechanical wear, identical on both rail and rod adapters. |
Runs through HA's native switchbot integration exactly like the Rod version — same cover entity, same firmware, same Bluetooth link. Calibration (setting the physical open/closed end-stops) has to be done once in the SwitchBot app before HA control works, and it's the same rotation-counting process regardless of rail or rod — the U-rail clip only changes how the bot grips the track, not the motor's calibration logic, so there's no meaningful HA-side difference between the two variants. Battery and light-level sensors only update over direct Bluetooth, not through a Hub, so expect gaps if the device drifts out of range or the companion app hogs the connection.
