Tapo C210 Pan/Tilt Indoor Camera
- Wi-Fi
Verified September 2026
The budget pick in TP-Link's pan/tilt indoor line, and where most UK buyers should start: 2K 3MP resolution, 360° pan/114° tilt, and roughly £20-25 versus the £39 C225. What you give up for the discount is the C225's starlight sensor and colour night vision — the C210's infrared night vision is monochrome only, with a 9m/30ft range. It suits a nursery or single-room pet cam well; skip it for a large open-plan space where the C225's AI motion tracking and better low-light picture earn the extra £15. Streams locally over RTSP once enabled in the Tapo app, no subscription required.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Move to preset | Select (HACS) | PTZ preset picker; presets are saved/deleted via component services and can be driven from automations such as Frigate zone triggers. |
| Privacy mode | Switch (HACS) | Physically parks the lens and disables the feed on demand. |
| Motion detection sensitivity | Number (HACS) | 1-100 sensitivity slider for onboard motion detection — the native integration only surfaces a plain motion on/off binary sensor with no tuning. |
| Siren | Siren (HACS) | Triggers the camera's built-in siren with configurable volume/duration/tone. |
| Sound detection | Binary sensor (HACS) | Audio-triggered detection (barking, glass break, alarms) — a signal the native tplink integration and plain ONVIF motion sensor don't provide. |
The native tplink integration only exposes the live stream and a basic motion binary sensor; PTZ movement, privacy mode, siren control, and per-zone motion sensitivity live entirely in the HACS Tapo Control component, which talks to the camera over its own local API rather than ONVIF. Camera account setup has an ordering trap: Third-Party Compatibility must be switched on in the Tapo app first, or the Advanced Settings menu won't even offer the Camera Account fields the integration needs. Some firmware versions enforce a two-of-three rule among cloud sync, SD card recording, and RTSP/NVR streaming — leaving an SD card inserted while cloud sync is on can silently kill RTSP. For ONVIF PTZ in Frigate, saved presets can be recalled automatically from a Frigate zone-entry event to slew the camera toward that zone for a confirming snapshot, with a follow-up automation returning it to a wide-angle home preset once the zone clears.
