The step-up indoor Tapo: 2K QHD with a starlight sensor, 360°/149° pan-tilt and AI motion tracking, still fully local over RTSP/ONVIF so Home Assistant never touches TP-Link's cloud — no Tapo Care subscription, ever. It's indoor-only, so don't buy it for a porch or garden; the weatherproof C120 covers that for £33. Against that fixed-lens C120 the extra ~£9 buys pan/tilt sweep of an entire room from one camera instead of two statics — worth it for an open-plan space, skippable if a single doorway is all you need to watch.

Pan/tiltButton (up/down/left/right, via HACS)Move the camera — not available in the native integration, needs a separate community add-on

The native tplink integration adds a camera entity, but pan/tilt itself isn't exposed by it at all — that needs the separate community HACS "Tapo: Cameras Control" add-on, which adds directional button entities you can script into a scheduled patrol sweep between fixed presets, something a fixed-lens camera simply can't do. Live RTSP view also silently stays disabled until you create a separate "Camera Account" under Tapo App → Advanced Settings — skip that step and the entity adds with no working stream.
