Tapo C225 Pan/Tilt AI Indoor Camera
- Wi-Fi
Verified July 2026
The step-up indoor Tapo for UK buyers: 2K QHD with a starlight sensor and motion tracking, still fully local via RTSP/ONVIF so Home Assistant never touches TP-Link's cloud. Around £40 it undercuts every cloud-subscription rival while offering better HA integration.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Camera stream | Live local video feed |
| Motion | Binary sensor | Detects movement (firmware-dependent) |
| Pan/tilt | Button (up/down/left/right, via HACS) | Move the camera — not available in the native integration, needs a separate community add-on |
The native tplink integration adds a camera entity, but pan/tilt itself isn't exposed by it at all — that needs the separate community HACS "Tapo: Cameras Control" add-on, which adds directional button entities you can script into a scheduled patrol sweep between fixed presets, something a fixed-lens camera simply can't do. Live RTSP view also silently stays disabled until you create a separate "Camera Account" under Tapo App → Advanced Settings — skip that step and the entity adds with no working stream.
