Our verdict

One of very few Wi-Fi extenders that Home Assistant Core supports by name: the devolo_home_network integration lists this exact model, so you get guest Wi-Fi and LED switches, a restart button and a count of connected clients without any cloud account. The trade-off is that it is a dual-band 2x2 repeater with a single Gigabit port, so it suits topping up a weak room rather than replacing a router. Also check stock before you plan around it: devolo's UK page showed it as currently unavailable on the day we checked, though it did not call it discontinued.

What can Home Assistant control on the Devolo WiFi 6 Repeater 3000?

ControlTypeWhat it does
Guest Wi-FiSwitchTurns the guest network on or off, for example on a schedule or when guests arrive.
LEDsSwitchSwitches the device LEDs off at night.
RestartButtonReboots the repeater from an automation when it drops off.
Connected Wi-Fi clientsSensorNumber of clients currently connected to the repeater.
Presence detectionDevice trackerHome/away for devices seen on the main or guest Wi-Fi.
FirmwareUpdateShows and installs updates; needs update checks enabled on the device.

Built into Home Assistant Core as devolo_home_network (Local Polling). You need the device's IP address from the devolo Home Network App, or auto-discovery. Entities include guest Wi-Fi and LED switches, identify, restart, start-pairing and start-WPS buttons, a guest Wi-Fi QR-code image, connected Wi-Fi client counts, presence detection for devices on the main or guest Wi-Fi, and a firmware update entity that only works if regular update checks are enabled on the device. The integration only uses the API that the devolo Home Network App uses, so anything only available in the repeater's web interface is not exposed. Neighbour-network and PLC sensors are disabled by default.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Devolo WiFi 6 Repeater 3000 work with Home Assistant locally?
Yes. The Devolo WiFi 6 Repeater 3000 is controlled locally in Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (devolo_home_network), so it keeps working if your internet connection or the Devolo cloud goes down. Control and state updates stay on your own network.
