Our verdict
A fanless 8-port managed PoE switch that earns its place in a Home Assistant house through the built-in UniFi integration, not through anything the switch does on its own: once it is adopted into a UniFi Network application, you can power-cycle a PoE camera or access point from an automation instead of walking to the cupboard. The catch is the controller. The integration talks to a UniFi OS console or a self-hosted UniFi Network application, so if you do not already run one, this cheap switch drags a gateway, Cloud Key or always-on server in behind it. The PoE budget is also modest: Ubiquiti lists 52 W in total, and only with the external 60 W adapter.
What can Home Assistant control on the Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE?
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| PoE port control | Switch | Per-port PoE on/off. Disabled by default and requires an admin account. |
| Power cycle PoE port | Button | Restarts whatever is powered from one specific PoE port, such as a camera or access point. |
| Port enable/disable | Switch | Turns an individual switch port on or off. Disabled by default and requires admin privileges. |
Built into Home Assistant Core as the unifi integration, connecting locally over a WebSocket to your UniFi Network application (UniFi OS console or self-hosted). It needs a local admin account with 'Restrict to local access only' ticked and Network set to Full Management; Ubiquiti cloud SSO accounts do not work. For a switch like this the useful entities are the per-port PoE switches and the 'power cycle PoE port' button, but both are disabled by default and need admin privileges. Use the latest stable UniFi Network release; Early Access and Release Candidate builds are not supported. Devices you remove from UniFi can linger in the HA device registry until you delete them by hand.
