Our verdict

Seven sensors in one unit is the pitch (radon, PM2.5, CO2, VOCs, temperature, humidity, pressure), and at £259 it is a premium monitor; radon is the differentiator. The catch for Home Assistant users is that it is cloud-only: readings go to Airthings' servers over Wi-Fi and Home Assistant polls them back, so there is no local or Bluetooth route for this model and no data if your internet is down. Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only. Power is 6 AA batteries (the page says up to 2 years) or USB-C.

What can Home Assistant control on the Airthings View Plus?

ControlTypeWhat it does
RadonSensorShort-term average radon in Bq/m3; may be missing for a while after setup.
CO2SensorCarbon dioxide in ppm, the usual trigger for a ventilation automation.
PM2.5SensorFine particulate matter from the cloud API.
VOCSensorVolatile organic compounds reading.

Uses the built-in Airthings integration, which is cloud polling: you create an API client in the Airthings Dashboard (Integrations, confidential access type), then paste the ID and secret into Home Assistant. Home Assistant's own docs do not name the View Plus; the integration is generic and the code maps radon, temperature, humidity, pressure, CO2, VOC and PM1/PM2.5 channels, plus battery and Wi-Fi signal, to sensors, so the View Plus should surface as one device with those entities. The docs warn that a new device's radon sensor may take a while to appear because the API does not always publish a value at start-up. The separate Airthings BLE integration does not list the View Plus, so do not plan on a local fallback.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Airthings View Plus work with Home Assistant locally?
Partly. The Airthings View Plus connects to Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (airthings), which relies on the Airthings cloud. It works in Home Assistant, but commands go via the internet and stop working during an outage of your connection or the Airthings service.
Which protocol does the Airthings View Plus use, and do I need a hub?
The Airthings View Plus uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly; or a Bluetooth adapter on your Home Assistant host or an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy. Airthings's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (airthings).
