Our verdict

The premium Z-Wave flood sensor: besides water it has a temperature sensor, a tilt sensor that alerts if it is moved, a built-in siren, a tamper switch and a dry-contact output, and it can run on a battery or on 12/24 V DC. Z-Wave JS has dedicated configs for both hardware generations, so it works with Home Assistant locally with no cloud. At £53.00 the extra features only matter if you will use the siren, tilt or temperature trigger. Buy the Z-Wave Plus (second generation) unit, not an old first-generation unit sold secondhand.

What can Home Assistant control on the Fibaro Flood Sensor (FGFS-101)?

ControlTypeWhat it does
Water leakBinary sensorFlood alarm from the sensing contacts.
TemperatureSensorBuilt-in temperature, useful for a freeze or rapid-rise alert.
Tilt / tamperBinary sensorAlerts if the sensor is moved or opened.

Supported by the built-in Z-Wave JS integration (Local Push) with separate device configs for the first-generation and Z-Wave Plus hardware, so inclusion identifies the correct one. It exposes the water alarm, temperature, tilt/tamper and battery as separate entities, (exact entity list not verified). Siren and parameter behaviour were not verified against the Z-Wave JS config. The sensor only alerts: it does not shut off water, so pair it with a motorised valve if you want that.
