A genuine CO2 plus PM2.5 monitor for £25 is unheard of — under half the SwitchBot Meter Pro CO2's £60 and a sixth of the Aranet4's £169, and IKEA's collaboration with Sensirion (the same sensor maker behind SwitchBot's chip) suggests this isn't a budget knock-off sensor, just a budget price. It speaks Matter over Thread, so it drops straight into HA's Matter integration with no IKEA hub needed if you already have a Thread border router. At a compact 40 x 40 x 90mm it suits a shelf or windowsill; keep it clear of doors, vents and direct sun. Sells out fast at IKEA UK.

ControlTypeWhat it does
CO2Sensor (ppm)Sensirion CO2 reading, exposed as its own entity via Matter's Air Quality cluster — not folded into a single AQI score.
PM2.5Sensor (µg/m³)Fine particulate concentration, exposed as an independent entity from the same Sensirion module.
TemperatureSensorAmbient temperature reading via the standard Matter Temperature Measurement cluster.
HumiditySensor (%)Relative humidity reading via the standard Matter Humidity cluster.
Air qualitySensorDevice-calculated summary index derived from CO2 and PM2.5, useful for a single-glance state but not a substitute for the individual sensors in automations.

Matter's Air Quality cluster exposes ALPSTUGA's readings as separate sensor entities, not one lumped index — CO2, PM2.5, temperature and humidity all land as individual sensors alongside a general air-quality summary state, so automations can gate on CO2 alone rather than a blended score. Thread commissioning is the rough edge: several users needed to sync credentials via the phone's Thread Companion App rather than the Thread integration's own send-credentials button, and needed IPv6 forwarding enabled on the router before pairing succeeded. HA has no native Matter time-sync, so the onboard clock can drift or reset on power loss since the device has no backup battery. A solid automation: trigger a connected extractor fan or purifier when the CO2 sensor crosses roughly 1000ppm, with a stabilisation delay so it doesn't flap on transient spikes from someone walking past.
