Our verdict
A £169 streamer that adds AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and multiroom to any amp or powered speakers, and the Pro Plus (£249) adds better DAC hardware. It is the best-value Sonos alternative if you already own good speakers. Home Assistant has a core wiim integration (from 2026.4) with local push and grouping.
What can Home Assistant control on the WiiM Pro?
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Media player | Media player | Playback, volume, mute, seek, source, repeat/shuffle and queue browsing. |
| Grouping | Action | media_player.join and unjoin for multiroom. |
The wiim integration discovers devices over zeroconf, uses UPnP event subscriptions (local push) and also polls every 60 seconds for availability. It exposes one media player per device with grouping through media_player.join and unjoin, and browsing of presets, playlists and queue. It does not use WiiM cloud account features.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the WiiM Pro work with Home Assistant locally?
- Yes. The WiiM Pro is controlled locally in Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (wiim), so it keeps working if your internet connection or the WiiM cloud goes down. Control and state updates stay on your own network.
- Which protocol does the WiiM Pro use, and do I need a hub?
- The WiiM Pro uses Wi-Fi. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly. WiiM's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (wiim).
