Our verdict

A screen-free children's audio player that doubles as a bedtime device: a full-panel night light, an okay-to-wake light and clock, and separate day and night playlists (Yoto Sleep Radio is the default night title). It is a kids' product first, so do not expect a grown-up white-noise machine. It costs £119.99 and the sleep sounds come from Yoto's own catalogue and cards rather than anything you stream from HA.

What can Home Assistant control on the Yoto Player (4th Gen)?

ControlTypeWhat it does
Media playermedia_playerPlayback, volume, track browsing.
Day/night modetime / number / selectDay and night mode start times, brightness, max volume and ambient light colour.
Battery and chargingsensor / binary_sensorBattery level and charging state.

Official core Yoto integration (HA 2026.6 and later) using the Yoto cloud over OAuth2 with MQTT push, so it needs the internet and a Yoto account. You get a media player, day and night mode start times, day/night brightness and max volume, ambient light colour selects, and battery, charging and Bluetooth sensors. The player cannot be powered on or off from HA, and while it is offline its media player and sensors show as unavailable. There is no documented night light on/off entity, so scripting 'lights on at bedtime' is limited to the day/night settings.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Yoto Player (4th Gen) work with Home Assistant locally?
Partly. The Yoto Player (4th Gen) connects to Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (yoto), which relies on the Yoto cloud. It works in Home Assistant, but commands go via the internet and stop working during an outage of your connection or the Yoto service.
Which protocol does the Yoto Player (4th Gen) use, and do I need a hub?
The Yoto Player (4th Gen) uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly; or a Bluetooth adapter on your Home Assistant host or an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy. Yoto's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (yoto).
