The best-known TV/desk light bars, and the H6056 is on Govee's LAN API list, so Home Assistant's 'Govee lights local' integration drives them with no cloud account or API key. Over LAN you get on/off, brightness, colour and colour temperature — what you lose is Govee's app-only music sync (bars react to bass in real time) and the gradient/scene presets that ripple colour across both bars as one canvas. Fine for most buyers, since a static accent colour is what TV-backlighting and desk-ambience automations actually want. They ship with screen and table mounting brackets rather than adhesive strips, so they clip onto TVs under 45 inches or stand beside a monitor.

In Home Assistant

ControlTypeWhat it does
Light (per bar)LightEach bar in the twin pack registers as its own light entity discovered independently by IP — the two bars must be added and automated separately, not as one linked fixture.
On/offSwitchLocal push state, not polling — toggling in HA or physically updates the entity almost instantly.
BrightnessNumber (0-100%)Full local brightness ramp, usable in transitions and dimming automations.
ColourRGBSets one solid colour across the entire bar uniformly; there is no per-segment addressing over the LAN API.
Colour temperatureNumber (Kelvin)Switches the bar into white/CCT mode locally, separate from the RGB colour mode.

The twin pack is discovered and controlled as two separate light entities, not a paired device, so both bars need LAN Control toggled individually in the Govee app — on some units this toggle only appears after a firmware update, sometimes weeks after purchase. Discovery relies on UDP multicast, which Home Assistant must send from the correct network interface and which does not cross VLAN/subnet boundaries — a frequent failure mode when HA runs on a management VLAN separate from the lights, fixable by disabling network autoconfigure and manually selecting interfaces. Since segment effects aren't reachable locally, a workable automation is flashing the whole bar to a solid alert colour on a security trigger rather than trying to replicate app scenes.
