The cheap, bright option: a 60x60 cm white-spectrum LED panel for £70 at IKEA UK, which is far less than any equivalent Hue panel. It is Zigbee rather than Matter-native: IKEA sells it expecting its own Dirigera hub (sold separately), but it also pairs straight to Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA, which is how most Home Assistant users run it. It is tunable white only; if you want colour, IKEA's 30x30 cm version is the colour one. Remote control is sold separately too, so the true cost of a fully working setup is more than the sticker price. Reviews on IKEA UK average 3.9/5, so check the fit and finish before committing a whole kitchen.
What can Home Assistant control on the IKEA JETSTRÖM LED Ceiling Light Panel (60x60 cm)?
Zigbee2MQTT's converters list the 60x60 cm JETSTRÖM as IKEA model L2207 (white spectrum) and the 100x40 cm as L2208, so both are supported through Z2M and, by extension, ZHA. The article's claim of Matter out of the box was not verified; IKEA's UK page says a hub is sold separately, which points to IKEA's own Zigbee hub plus its Matter bridging rather than a native Matter light.
