IKEA KAJPLATS E27 colour & white spectrum bulb (1055 lm)
- Thread
- Matter
Verified September 2026
This is the brighter sibling to IKEA's 806lm E14 colour bulb — same £9 KAJPLATS range, but a standard E27 fitting and enough output (1055 lm) to properly light a living room lamp rather than just accent it. Philips Hue's closest match, the 1100lm White & Colour Ambiance E27, costs £44.99 — five times more for barely any extra brightness. WiZ's colour E27 undercuts Hue at £11.19, but IKEA still wins on price and matches it on Matter-native support. No IKEA hub needed; it joins Home Assistant's local Matter integration directly via any Thread border router.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Light | Basic on/off power state. |
| Brightness | Number (0-255) | Standard dimming with transition support. |
| Colour | Colour (hs/xy) | Full colour-wheel control via whichever colour mode the bulb advertises — not a locked-down preset list. |
| Colour temperature | Number (Kelvin) | White-spectrum control bounded by the device's reported min/max range. |
| Effect | Unsupported | No colour-loop or built-in effect list exposed — HA's Matter light platform doesn't implement colour-loop commands, unlike Trådfri's effects under Zigbee2MQTT. |
Home Assistant's Matter integration reads the bulb's colour-control capability directly and exposes full HS or XY colour modes plus mireds-based colour temperature — there's no preset-only fallback, so you get full colour-wheel control, not a limited palette. The catch is that colour-loop effects aren't implemented in HA's Matter light platform at all right now, so the cycling/candle-style effects Trådfri owners got for free via Zigbee2MQTT simply aren't there over Matter. Commissioning is the rougher edge: community threads report Thread joins failing with timeouts, and a stable pair sometimes needs a Thread-credentials resync from the companion app before retrying. As an end-device-only bulb it also leans on other Thread routers for mesh reliability — a single bulb sitting alone on Thread is more failure-prone than the same bulb on a mature Zigbee mesh.
