IKEA KAJPLATS E27 white spectrum bulb (806 lm, clear globe)
- Thread
- Matter
Verified September 2026
At £7 this tunable-white Matter-over-Thread bulb undercuts everything comparable in the UK — Philips Hue's equivalent White Ambiance E27 runs £30+ for the same 806-lumen output, and the KAJPLATS matches it on CRI (90) while beating it on rated lifespan (25,000 hours). The catch: it needs an existing Thread border router — DIRIGERA, Apple TV, or a Hue Bridge — before it's controllable, so it's not a good first smart bulb for anyone starting from zero. For a household with Thread already running, it's the cheapest way to bulk-fit hallways and reading lamps where colour isn't needed.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Brightness | Slider (0-100%) | Dim the bulb |
| Colour temperature | Preset (2200K/2700K/4000K/6500K) | Switch between four fixed white tones — not continuously adjustable |
Exposes a single light entity with brightness and four fixed colour-temperature presets (2200K/2700K/4000K/6500K) rather than continuous CCT — so a sunset-dimming automation should snap between presets at set times instead of trying to interpolate smoothly. Pairing mode stays open only 15 minutes after power-on; forcing a factory reset for re-pairing needs six quick on/off cycles, and it can't run Touchlink and Matter/Thread at the same time.
