The viral donut lamp, now Matter-over-Thread — pair it straight into HA's built-in Matter integration and you skip DIRIGERA entirely, which is the whole appeal for an HA household. The catch is the included BILRESA remote's twelve preset colours: those are baked into the remote's firmware as an internal colour cycle, not exposed to HA as discrete entities, so recreating '1-2-3 clicks to peach' as an HA scene means capturing each xy colour value yourself rather than just calling a preset. Fine as a mood-light accent if you're happy building your own colour scenes; frustrating if you bought it expecting the remote's presets to just show up.

Pairs via HA's built-in Matter integration over Thread — needs a Thread border router (e.g. SkyConnect, ZBT-2, or an Apple TV/HomePod acting as one) on the same Thread network, but does not need IKEA's DIRIGERA hub at all for HA control. Per a community.home-assistant.io thread from a user running HA Green with a ZBT-2 border router: the BILRESA remote's twelve colour presets are not exposed as separate HA entities — 'the remote seems to cycle through preset xy colour values internally' — so recreating the remote's colour-cycling behaviour in HA means manually capturing and scripting each xy colour value rather than calling a preset. The same thread notes that holding the remote for fade up/down works when triggered from HA but is visibly jerkier than the lamp's native smooth fade, suggesting the Matter LevelControl transition isn't as finely stepped as IKEA's own firmware-driven fade.
