Verified September 2026

The best-value Zigbee 3.0 colour bulb for Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA users — fully supported, entirely local out of the box, no bridge required (though it also slots into an existing Hue Bridge). At around £17 it undercuts Philips Hue's £45 E27 colour bulb by more than half, and beats WiZ's £11 Wi-Fi bulb on protocol alone — Zigbee mesh instead of one more device hogging your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Colour rendering (CRI >82) is a step down from Hue's Gamut C, fine for general colour and mood lighting, not colour-critical work. Best pick for anyone already on a Zigbee coordinator who wants real colour without Hue money.

ControlTypeWhat it does
LightLightOn/off via the standard light entity created from the Zigbee2MQTT device.
BrightnessLight attribute (0-254)Configurable transition time (default 0s) with move/step support for smooth automations.
Colour temperatureLight attribute (153-555 mired)Named presets (coolest/cool/neutral/warm/warmest) plus a separate startup_color_temp for post-power-loss recovery.
ColourLight attributeSettable via xy, hs, or hex; colour-space sync is on by default so all three stay consistent.
Power-on behaviorSelectoff/on/toggle/previous — controls state after a power interruption; recommended to set explicitly given reported random-activation reports on this model.

Zigbee2MQTT exposes power_on_behavior (off/on/toggle/previous) alongside a separate startup_color_temp field, so you can pin the bulb to relaunch at a fixed warm mired value after a mains cut instead of trusting 'previous' state — worth setting explicitly, since some RB 286 C units have been reported going unresponsive after a Z2M/HA restart or flipping on unexpectedly in sync with an unrelated group switch, with no confirmed root cause from maintainers. Colour temp covers the standard 153-555 mired range with named presets, and colour can be set via xy, hs, or hex with colour-space sync on by default. The built-in colorloop and blink/breathe/okay effects can drive a status-indicator automation (e.g. blink amber when a door sensor reports open too long) without a helper script faking the flash.
