Philips Hue White Ambiance GU10 spotlight (400 lm)

Verified September 2026
UK kitchens and bathrooms run on GU10 downlights, and this is the sensible way to make them smart — warm-to-cool white for a lot less than the colour version, with the same platinum-grade local Hue integration. Buy in a 3-pack (£59.99) rather than three singles (£89.97) and save close to a third; the 2-pack (£44.99) still beats two singles by £15. Like any GU10 spot it throws a narrow, directional beam, not broad ambient light — built for task lighting over a hob or sink, not filling a room evenly. It's deep-dimmable to a genuine low glow without flicker, and pairs straight into Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA if you'd rather skip the Bridge.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Brightness | Number (0-100%) | No dedicated min-dim expose on this model, so very low percentages can flicker in cheaper trailing-edge-adjacent GU10 downlight fittings. |
| Colour temperature | Number (2200-6500K) | The only colour-adjacent control the bulb exposes — attempting to set hs/xy colour via a script written for a colour Hue bulb will fail rather than degrade gracefully. |
| Startup colour temperature | Config | Sets the colour temperature applied when the bulb is power-cycled at the wall switch, independent of last-known state — relevant since GU10s are commonly wired behind a physical switch. |
| Power-on behavior | Select | on/off/toggle/previous — determines what the bulb does after mains power is restored, separate from any HA-side restore-state logic. |
| Signal quality | Sensor | Zigbee link-quality diagnostic per bulb, useful for diagnosing cases where a metal downlight can attenuates signal between adjacent kitchen spots. |
Because this is White Ambiance rather than White and Colour Ambiance, the entity's supported colour modes are colour-temperature only — there's no hs/xy/rgb colour attribute and no colorloop or scene-cycling effect on any of the three integration paths (native Hue, Zigbee2MQTT, ZHA). Automations or templates copied from a colour Hue bulb will error on a missing attribute rather than silently no-op, so check for colour_temp support before reusing scripts. In a UK metal-can downlight the LED driver throttles under thermal load well before the diode itself degrades, so an insulated-ceiling kitchen fitting is more likely to show occasional dimming stutter or a brief Zigbee drop-out under load than a dead bulb; six-to-eight GU10s in one kitchen generally mesh fine since each acts as a Zigbee router, but a metal-backed can can shield a bulb's radio from its nearest neighbour more than an open fitting would.
