SwitchBot RGBICWW Ceiling Light (12-inch, 2000lm)
- Wi-Fi
- Matter
Verified August 2026
SwitchBot is the first brand in this list to put Matter in a ceiling fitting rather than a bulb or strip, and at £49.99 it undercuts the obvious alternative — buying a Matter bulb (Nanoleaf's £19.99 A60, IKEA's £9 KAJPLATS) and screwing it into an existing flush fitting — only if you don't already have a fitting to put one in. If you do, the bulb route is cheaper and just as local. Where this genuinely wins is rooms with no separate lampholder, since it replaces the whole fitting in one part. It runs Matter over Wi-Fi rather than Thread, so it won't join or strengthen a Thread mesh the way Nanoleaf's and IKEA's Thread-based bulbs do, and there's no Zigbee fallback the way Hue offers. Govee's RGBIC gear undercuts SwitchBot on strip lighting but still hasn't shipped Matter — it's Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and cloud-leaning, so it's not a fair swap here. Buy this for the ceiling-mount form factor and hub-free Matter join; buy a bulb instead if your fitting already takes one.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Switch | On/off, pushed locally over Matter with no SwitchBot cloud round-trip once commissioned. |
| Brightness | Number (0-100%) | Standard Matter level control across the 1-100% dimming range. |
| Colour | Colour (hs/xy) | Full hue/saturation and XY control over the RGBIC colour range — same static gamut model as other Matter colour lights; no colour-cycling or gradient effects. |
| Colour temperature | Number (Kelvin) | Tunable white from 2700-6500K, usable as an alternative to HS/XY for white-light scenes. |
| SwitchBot app scenes and effects | Unsupported | The 26 preset scenes and 8 lighting effects available in the SwitchBot app have no Matter cluster equivalent and are not exposed to Home Assistant. |
Because this joins over Matter-over-Wi-Fi rather than Thread, it pairs into HA's core Matter integration the same way a Wi-Fi Matter device does — commission it once via the SwitchBot app (or any Matter controller) using its QR/setup code, then share that Matter fabric with Home Assistant. There's no Thread border router requirement, but that also means it does nothing to extend Thread mesh coverage the way SwitchBot's own Thread devices, or Nanoleaf's and IKEA's Matter-over-Thread bulbs, do. As a single Wi-Fi endpoint it depends on your household Wi-Fi being solid in that room — a ceiling fixture is less forgiving to move or add an extender for than a bulb if signal is marginal. The 26 app-side scenes and 8 lighting effects are SwitchBot-app constructs, not Matter cluster features, so — as with Nanoleaf's saved scenes — none of them carry over into the HA entity; only standard on/off, brightness, colour and colour-temperature are exposed.
