A hub-free tunable-white ceiling light with a coloured backlight, from the same Signify family as Hue. Amazon UK lists it under the newer 'Philips Smart Lighting' name but the listing still says it is controlled through the WiZ app and Connected by WiZ, so it is the same platform. At around £80 for a 40 cm fitting it is much cheaper than the article's £129.99 estimate suggests. The compromise is WiZ's mixed reputation for app polish and the loss of the Zigbee mesh, but Home Assistant's WiZ integration is local and straightforward.
What can Home Assistant control on the WiZ Rune Ceiling Light?
Home Assistant's core WiZ integration discovers WiZ lights on the local network and talks to them over UDP, so control is local and push-updated. Amazon's listing doesn't mention Matter, and I couldn't verify the article's claim that this model supports it, so don't count on that route.
