Aqara Smart Lock U200
- Thread
- Matter
- Bluetooth
Verified September 2026
The best-value full-featured lock for UK doors: fits euro profile, select Scandi and UK oval cylinders, and it's a real step up from the U200 Lite (£128) — that extra £40-90 buys a bundled fingerprint keypad (25-print capacity, sub-0.3s recognition) plus Apple Home Key, neither of which the Lite offers. Matter over Thread gives fully local Home Assistant control, though only Home Key taps report a reliable unlock source. The lock body's 2000mAh Li-ion battery lasts ~6 months per charge; the exterior keypad runs on 4x AAA (or wired power) for similar longevity. Budget for a Thread border router if you don't already have one.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lock | Lock | Primary lock entity exposing locked/unlocked and transitional states; its changed-by attribute exists but is unreliable at identifying the true unlock method. |
| Battery | Sensor (%) | Battery percentage for the interior lock body's rechargeable cell; the exterior keypad's separate batteries aren't exposed as their own entity. |
| Firmware update | Update | Surfaces available OTA firmware revisions for the lock body. |
| User codes | Service | HA's native Matter lock user/credential management lets you create, update, or clear numbered keypad PIN slots directly from HA automations or Developer Tools. |
| Door/jam state | Unsupported | The Matter cluster's door-open and jammed-state reporting aren't surfaced by this device's HA integration despite the hardware nominally supporting it. |
Matter's door lock cluster gives Home Assistant a lock entity, a battery sensor, and a firmware update entity, but the changed-by attribute that should identify the unlock method has been reported unreliable on current firmware, with fingerprint, keypad PIN, physical key, and app unlocks often collapsing into generic values. Only Apple Home Key taps tend to report correctly, so the one unlock-source automation this data reliably supports is flagging any non-Home-Key unlock for review rather than identifying which household member used the fingerprint or keypad — that per-person detail stays Aqara-app-only, the same blind spot found on cheaper Matter locks. HA does support native Matter lock user/credential management on this device, letting you push a distinct PIN per family member straight from HA, though there's still no dependable per-user unlock log to pair with those codes. Turning the cylinder by hand with the physical key also doesn't push a state update over Matter, so the lock entity can show a stale status until the next report.
