Budget Matter-over-Thread lock that fits euro profile and UK oval cylinders (emergency function required) — a rare genuinely UK-door-friendly cheap option. It's a retrofit design: your existing cylinder stays put, so a physical key still opens the door from outside if the battery dies. No fingerprint reader or keypad at this tier — those live on the pricier U200/U300 — so unlocking is app, Bluetooth proximity, or the bundled NFC card, plus PIN codes via the separate Aqara Home app, not HA. The 2000mAh battery is rated ~6 months and charges over USB-C, no AAs. Local control via HA's Matter integration, but you'll need a Thread border router.

HA's native Matter integration only creates three entities here — lock, firmware update, and battery (and battery only after firmware v65+) — with no jam status, tamper state, or PIN/event-log data exposed at all. Manual key unlocking isn't always picked up correctly unless the lock's motor reaches its exact calibrated position, so enabling auto-relock (repositioning the motor after any manual turn) is the practical fix. Because jam/failure states aren't visible to HA, a useful watchdog is alerting if the lock entity hasn't changed state within a few minutes of a door sensor detecting arrival.
