Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi
- Wi-Fi
Verified September 2026
The default choice for HA users in the UK: Platinum-certified Works with Home Assistant, fully local RTSP/ONVIF streams, doorbell press events, and microSD storage with zero subscription. This is the wired-only WiFi model — no battery buffer, so it needs your existing bell transformer (12-24V AC) or a plug-in adapter; Reolink also sells a separate PoE variant for hardwired network runs and a standalone battery model for renters without bell wiring. Colour night vision and 2K+ detail hold up well after dark for a doorbell camera. Install is a straightforward swap if you already have bell wiring; without it, budget for a transformer kit.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Doorbell press | Binary sensor | Fires on doorbell button press; use a state trigger rather than the raw event bus, which has been reported as less reliable. |
| Person detection | Binary sensor | AI person detection, separate from generic motion; delivered via the same push/poll fallback chain as the doorbell-press sensor. |
| Chime visitor ringtone | Select | Sets which ringtone the paired wireless chime plays specifically for a doorbell press, independent of the motion/person/pet ringtone selects. |
| Chime volume | Number | Adjusts the wireless chime's playback volume from Home Assistant, without opening the Reolink app. |
| Play chime | Service | Sounds the paired chime on demand from any automation trigger, not only native doorbell/motion events. |
The bundled wireless chime isn't just a hardware accessory — it registers in HA as its own device with select entities for per-event ringtones (motion, person, pet, vehicle, visitor), a number entity for volume, and an LED switch, so a play-chime service can be triggered from any automation, not just an actual doorbell press. Because this is the WiFi model, event delivery falls back through push, then long-poll, then fast-polling depending on signal strength — a weak Wi-Fi link degrades visitor/motion sensors into noticeable lag rather than dropping events outright. Since the paired chime is a first-class networked device rather than a hardwired-only accessory, you can trigger it from an unrelated HA event — e.g. a gate or side-entrance contact sensor — turning the included chime into a general secondary doorbell with no extra hardware.
