Our verdict

The best Home Assistant fit among the dehumidifiers: Home Assistant's Midea integration lists dehumidifiers among its supported devices and controls them over your local network. Midea UK's B&Q page lists the 20L Cube with built-in Wi-Fi and app, a 12 L tank, 20 L/day extraction, 42 dB(A) and a 1-year guarantee. It was out of stock on that page when checked. Expect fiddly pairing: protocol V3 units need a token and key fetched once from Midea's cloud.

What can Home Assistant control on the Midea Cube 20?

ControlTypeWhat it does
DehumidifierHumidifierTarget humidity and on/off control; entity type per the integration's generic platform list, not verified for this model.

Built-in 'Midea' integration (Local Polling, Gold quality scale). Communication is over the local network; the cloud is used only during setup to get the token and key that protocol V3 appliances need, and those can be entered manually. Home Assistant's page does not map entities to appliance types, so what a Cube 20 exposes (the generic list includes humidifier, fan, number, select, sensor and switch platforms) is not confirmed here. Setup needs the appliance code, model and subtype from the Midea app. Check your exact unit is supported before relying on it, since the docs do not list models.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Midea Cube 20 work with Home Assistant locally?
Yes. The Midea Cube 20 is controlled locally in Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration, so it keeps working if your internet connection or the Midea cloud goes down. Control and state updates stay on your own network.
Which protocol does the Midea Cube 20 use, and do I need a hub?
The Midea Cube 20 uses Wi-Fi. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly. Midea's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration.
