Our verdict
The most capable and by far the most expensive mower in the article: £5,299 RRP at Husqvarna UK (leasing from £151 is also offered). It is a wire-free, all-wheel-drive mower for up to 5,000 m² of lawn with slope handling up to 50% at the boundary and 70% inside. Husqvarna's page says you may need an EPOS RS1 reference station, sold separately, if you lack full cellular coverage, and the Automower Connect app is required to create the virtual installation. Home Assistant sees it through Husqvarna's cloud only. Be aware of how much of its feature set the integration exposes: the docs say stay-out zones are not handled on EPOS mowers, and they do not mention NERA at all.
What can Home Assistant control on the Husqvarna Automower 435X AWD NERA?
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lawn mower | Lawn mower | Resume schedule, pause and park; start is limited to app schedules unless you use the override action. |
| Position | Device tracker | Mower location where the model reports it. |
| Schedule | Calendar | Mowing schedule exposed as a calendar. |
| Cutting height | Number | Cutting height control; disabled by default. |
| Last error | Event | Error events plus a confirm-error button where available. |
Built-in Husqvarna Automower integration, cloud push. You must create your own application in the Husqvarna Developer Portal, attach the Authentication and Automower Connect APIs, and enter the key and secret as OAuth credentials, which is more fiddly than a normal account login. It exposes a lawn mower entity (resume schedule, pause, park), battery and error sensors, a device tracker for position, a schedule calendar, cutting height numbers, headlight select and switches for work areas and stay-out zones where the mower supports them. Gotchas: the 'start' action only works inside schedules configured in the Automower Connect app (use the override action otherwise), the battery must be full first, and stay-out zone control is documented as unsupported on EPOS mowers. The docs never mention NERA, so test before relying on it.
