igloohome Retrofit Lock
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
Verified September 2026
The Airbnb host's favourite: clips over an existing euro-cylinder thumbturn with no drilling — a genuine DIY fit, not a locksmith job like igloohome's mortise lock — and generates offline, algorithm-based PIN codes that work with no internet or bridge, ideal for guest access. Runs on 4 AA batteries rated up to 12 months. Home Assistant support is official (added in HA 2025.2) but cloud-only: it needs an active iglooaccess subscription (around $2 USD per lock per month after a 30-day trial) plus the optional Wi-Fi Bridge for any remote or HA control, since Bluetooth alone can't reach the cloud API.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lock | Lock | Lock/unlock/open sent as commands through the linked Wi-Fi Bridge; only appears if a bridge is already registered to this device, and reports an assumed state since the API can't confirm actual thumbturn position. |
| Battery | Sensor (%) | Cloud-polled roughly hourly; goes unavailable rather than showing a stale value if a poll fails. |
| PIN code management | Unsupported | Custom-PIN create/delete is already authorised by HA's OAuth scope but nothing calls it, so this lock's signature offline-PIN feature stays app-only. |
| Activity log | Unsupported | No HA entity surfaces who unlocked the thumbturn or when. |
| API credentials | Config | Needs a client ID/secret generated on igloohome's developer-access page before setup will accept them; rotating the secret forces a full remove-and-re-add. |
This uses the exact same official cloud-based igloohome HA integration as the Mortise 2+, so the technical picture is identical: HA only exposes lock/unlock/open, and since the API has no state-query endpoint, the lock entity runs on an assumed state rather than confirmed door position. Battery is cloud-polled roughly once an hour and drops to unavailable rather than showing stale data if a poll fails. PIN code management and activity-log history are already authorised by the OAuth scope HA requests but aren't wired to any entity, so they stay app-only, and API client ID/secret come from a separate developer-access page — a rotated secret means removing and re-adding the integration, not a reauth prompt.
