Officially Works with Home Assistant certified via Matter over Thread, the Pro (5th gen) uses the same retrofit-over-your-cylinder fitting as the £139 Go, but at £229 it swaps 4 AA batteries for a built-in rechargeable Li-ion pack that charges via USB-C in about 2 hours and lasts roughly 6 months per charge. The extra ~£90 also buys a Wi-Fi radio for Nuki's remote-access feature and, more usefully for HA users, a port for the optional Door Sensor accessory the Go lacks entirely. Worth it for fewer battery swaps and door-open/closed state; skip it if the Go's bare lock entity covers your needs.

ControlTypeWhat it does
LockLockLock/unlock via the Matter door lock cluster, fully local over Thread — identical control surface to the Go.
BatterySensor (%)Battery reading from the Matter power-source cluster.
Door sensorBinary sensorOpen/closed state from the paired Nuki Door Sensor accessory — a real Matter-exposed entity on the Pro, unlike the Go which has no hardware slot for the accessory at all.
Operating modeSelectSwitches the lock's Matter operating mode; not exposed at all through the Bridge or MQTT paths, only Matter.
Thread signalSensorDiagnostic sensor for the Thread network link, useful for debugging commissioning/reliability issues with border routers; absent from Bridge and MQTT integrations.

Matter commissioning for the Pro runs over Bluetooth-to-Thread exactly like the Go — the built-in Wi-Fi radio only backs Nuki's own cloud remote-access feature, so it doesn't shortcut pairing or improve reliability against Thread border router issues, a real-world gotcha reported by Pro owners around NAT64 configuration. Where the Pro genuinely pulls ahead of the Go is the optional Nuki Door Sensor accessory: the Go has no port for it at all, while the Pro's paired sensor reports open/closed as its own binary sensor entity through HA's Matter integration. Don't expect the older native nuki integration plus Bridge to unlock materially richer entities either — PIN codes and the activity log stay locked in the Nuki app regardless of path; only a third-party HACS integration querying Nuki's cloud API surfaces that data, since neither the Bridge's local API, MQTT, nor Matter exposes it locally.

Specs

dimensions
Approx. Ø57 x 70mm, around 290g
battery life
Roughly 6 months per charge under typical use, full recharge takes about 2 hours over USB-C
battery type
Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, charged via USB-C — no AA batteries, unlike the Go
connectivity
Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread (Matter certified) — the Wi-Fi radio backs Nuki's own cloud remote-access feature rather than improving Matter/Thread pairing or reliability
backup access
Existing physical key still works from outside via the unchanged cylinder, identical to the Go
keypad or fingerprint
Nuki Keypad 2.0 sold separately for PIN entry; no fingerprint reader offered
cylinder compatibility
Retrofits over an existing key & knob euro-profile cylinder, same fitting principle as the Go — no cylinder swap or drilling required (the pricier Smart Lock Ultra needs the cylinder itself replaced)
