Nuki Smart Lock Ultra
- Wi-Fi
- Thread
- Matter
- Bluetooth
Verified September 2026
Nuki's flagship, distinct from both Go and the Pro (5th gen): a brushless motor makes it the smallest (57 x 58mm) and roughly 3x faster Nuki lock yet, with built-in Wi-Fi needing no bridge for basic remote use. It runs on a built-in rechargeable battery rather than swappable cells — Nuki claims a 2-hour full charge either on the door or removed to a dock — a real trade-off against AA-powered rivals if you're away from home when it runs flat. Ships with an integrated universal euro-profile cylinder (separate Nordics and Swiss variants exist for those cylinder types). Officially Works with Home Assistant certified via Matter over Thread alongside Go and Pro — once paired over Matter you don't need a Nuki cloud account at all for day-to-day Home Assistant control.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lock | Lock | Local lock/unlock via the Matter door lock cluster; reports jammed/locking/unlocking states with no cloud round-trip once commissioned over Thread. |
| Battery | Sensor (%) | Percentage battery reading, polled locally alongside the lock state. |
| Thread connectivity | Sensor | Diagnostic entity reporting link quality to the Thread border router — useful for confirming the border-router prerequisite is actually satisfied rather than silently failing. |
| Motor speed preset | Unsupported | Configurable only inside the Nuki app; absent from the Matter door lock cluster, so it can't be read or set from HA today. |
The Ultra's three motor-speed presets live in Nuki's own app-level config, not in Matter's standardised lock cluster, so unlike lock/unlock they don't surface as an HA entity or service call — switching speeds has to stay in the Nuki app rather than an HA automation. Matter-over-Thread commissioning depends on a Thread border router already joined to HA's Thread network; several owners report Bluetooth- or Wi-Fi-only pairing attempts against the Ultra failing silently with no error in the logs until a proper border router is in place. Where the built-in Wi-Fi is used for local control rather than Matter, reported battery drain is minor — notably better than the Pro's known Wi-Fi-Matter drain — though that figure is for the non-Matter local path, not confirmed yet for Matter-over-Wi-Fi specifically.
