SwitchBot's original, cheapest lock — the entry point below Lock Pro and Lock Ultra. It clips over an existing euro-cylinder thumbturn with adhesive mount and adaptors, no drilling. Bluetooth is the only radio built into the lock itself; a 2023 firmware update (Smart Lock firmware v6.5) added Matter support, but only when bridged through an optional SwitchBot Hub 2 or Hub Mini (Matter-enabled), for Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home. Home Assistant doesn't need any hub, though — the switchbot integration controls it directly over local Bluetooth. Runs on two CR123A batteries, rated ~180 days at ten cycles a day. Auto-lock re-engages on a configurable delay after the door closes. Oddly, Lock Pro sometimes undercuts this on Amazon UK, and Lock Ultra costs more than double via the direct store — buy this one only if you don't need Ultra's half-lock mode.

Despite being the older, cheaper hardware, the base Lock exposes the identical HA entity set as Lock Ultra via the same local switchbot integration — lock/unlock, door open/closed state, auto-lock-paused, calibration state, and battery — so buying down from Ultra costs no automation hooks. What it does lack is Ultra's half-lock/nightlatch control. Like Ultra, the lock itself has no built-in Matter radio, but a 2023 firmware update lets it be bridged to Matter through an optional Hub 2 or Hub Mini (Matter-enabled) — so the same dual Bluetooth/Matter entity duplication that can trip up Ultra owners is possible here too if you commission the lock via both a Matter hub and HA's direct Bluetooth switchbot integration at once; stick to one path to avoid two lock entities for the same device. The dominant real-world failure reported by long-time owners isn't an integration bug but the clip-on adhesive mount slipping on the thumbturn over months of use, which surfaces first as calibration state flipping to uncalibrated rather than as a failed unlock call.
