The lock body's 3×18350 battery pack claims ~9 months per charge, backed by a CR123A emergency cell and a supercapacitor for last-resort unlocks. Matter still needs a SwitchBot hub, so budget for one if you want Apple Home too. The EU/UK version fits euro profile cylinders out of the box, with a £19.99 adapter kit covering awkward thumbturns — check yours before buying.

The direct Bluetooth path exposes a proper lock entity with door open/closed state, an auto-lock-paused flag, a calibration-state sensor, and battery percentage, plus a configurable retry count for flaky BLE commands. A firmware update has broken BLE lock/unlock for some users with repeated timeout errors during the encryption handshake even at healthy signal strength, so this is a protocol-negotiation quirk rather than a range problem — bump the retry count if commands start silently failing. Keypad PIN entries don't surface as per-user HA events, the same limitation as other smart locks on this site; you only get who-unlocked-what inside the SwitchBot app. Routing through Matter via a SwitchBot hub gives local push control too, but jammed-state reporting isn't implemented on that path yet, so the direct Bluetooth integration's calibration-state entity is currently the more complete way to catch a mis-seated lock.
