The rare underfloor-heating pick that speaks Thread/Matter locally, no Aqara hub required — a wired 230V thermostat switching up to 16A electric UFH (or 2-wire NC hydronic actuators) with an included NTC floor probe. This is an electric-UFH specialist, not a radiator thermostat swap: budget an electrician's time, since it wires into Live/Neutral/Load at the backplate rather than clipping onto an existing 2-wire stat. At £69.99 it undercuts the hub-based Heatmiser neoStat Pro (£127.52 plus a ~£117 neoHub) by a wide margin for a single zone, but Heatmiser's screed floor-limit logic and 32-zone hub scale further if you're wiring more than one room.

Home Assistant's Matter integration exposes the W500 as a heat-only climate entity, but preset mode support is generally dropped for third-party Matter thermostats in HA, so eco/schedule presets set in the Aqara app won't show up as selectable HA presets. There's no mechanism to split the NTC floor probe from an air reading into two entities — current temperature reflects whichever probe the device is locally configured to reference, a gap already reported for other floor-heating stats where HA can't expose dual sensor feeds. Aqara's own community forum has an open thread of Thread-connected W500 units reporting implausible temperature spikes, suspected to be Thread radio coverage rather than an HA bug; some users have fallen back to Zigbee2MQTT, which added native support and is currently the more stable pairing path if Thread proves flaky.
