Reolink's cordless option, and still Platinum-certified Works with Home Assistant — but budget for more than the £99.59 sticker price: proper local storage and the full local API need a separate Reolink Home Hub (roughly £50 extra), since standalone mode drops both. What you get for that is genuine no-drill install — mount anywhere within WiFi range, no bell wiring or transformer needed — plus HDR night vision that holds up well after dark. If you already have bell wiring, the wired WiFi model is the simpler HA setup: no hub dependency, no battery-aware polling throttling to work around.

In Home Assistant

ControlTypeWhat it does
BatterySensor (%)Reported battery charge level; updates instantly on wake events despite the throttled polling for other entities.
Battery stateSensorDischarging, charging, or charge-complete status.
Battery temperatureSensorBattery pack temperature; useful for flagging cold-weather charge/discharge issues on an outdoor-mounted doorbell.
Sleep statusBinary sensorAwake/sleeping state of the camera; the recommended automation trigger since it fires instantly and avoids acting on throttled polling cycles.
PIR sensitivity / intervalNumberTunes motion-wake trigger sensitivity and the minimum interval between wake events — the main lever for trading event responsiveness against battery drain.

In Home Assistant terms, standalone isn't actually a supported configuration — the Reolink integration only ever talks to this doorbell through a Home Hub or NVR acting as a bridge, so there's no direct camera-to-HA fallback the way there is with the wired models. Once bridged, entity polling is battery-aware: camera-waking entities refresh only on a PIR wake event, after a period of silence, or on a shared multi-hour ceiling across all battery cameras sharing the hub, versus the wired doorbells' flat 60-second poll. Push-capable entities (battery percentage, battery state, sleep status) still update near-instantly outside that throttling, which makes sleep-status-becomes-awake the right automation trigger — chaining notification/snapshot actions off that single transition avoids re-triggering on every polled refresh during one visitor interaction.
