A polished no-neutral Zigbee relay (model SSM-U02) that pairs directly with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA — no Aqara hub needed, despite what the box says. It costs noticeably more than SONOFF's no-neutral equivalent (the ZBMINI-L2, roughly half the price), but the extra spend buys tidier build quality and reliable power-failure memory. Like all capacitor-based no-neutral relays, it borrows a trickle of current through the load to stay powered — fine for standard bulbs, but dimmable LED drivers can flicker or hum faintly at low brightness, so it's best matched to simple on/off lighting circuits rather than dimming setups. A with-neutral SSM-U01 sibling adds energy monitoring if that matters.

The no-neutral design has a real load ceiling worth knowing before wiring it in — independent testing puts it at a 3W minimum and 1250W maximum, notably lower than the 2200W figure sometimes quoted for this line. There's no power/energy sensor at all on this no-neutral variant (only the with-neutral SSM-U01 sibling meters), so the useful signal instead is device_temperature — worth an automation alerting if the relay is running hot under sustained load near that ceiling, since there's no wattage reading to infer strain from directly.
