Candeo Zigbee Dimmer Module (C-ZB-DM204)
- Zigbee
Verified September 2026
A UK brand that actually designs for UK wiring: works with or without a neutral and fits standard 25mm back boxes. Fully supported in Zigbee2MQTT with all features exposed, making it the best Zigbee dimmer module for typical UK no-neutral lighting loops. At £39.99 it's priced in line with Samotech's SM309-S, the other serious UK no-neutral trailing-edge option — Aqara's modules only switch, they don't dim, so they're not a real alternative here. Trailing-edge dimming handles LED loads up to 200W and halogen/incandescent up to 400W cleanly, without the buzz cheap leading-edge drivers cause. Buying direct from a UK company also means UK-based support if a module fails, not an overseas marketplace returns process.
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Toggle + brightness slider | Turn the load on/off and dim it |
| Power / Voltage / Current | Sensor | Live readings |
| Energy | Sensor (kWh) | Cumulative energy used |
| External switch type | Selector (momentary/toggle) | Match the module to your physical switch wiring — needs a power cycle to apply |
Zigbee2MQTT exposes full energy monitoring here, not just on/off — live power, voltage, current and cumulative kWh sensors alongside brightness — so you can catch a dimmed LED load dropping to near-zero wattage mid-session (a failed bulb) with a simple power-threshold automation, something a plain switch can't do. One config gotcha: external_switch_type and minimum_brightness_level are write-once settings that silently do nothing until the module is power-cycled after being changed in Zigbee2MQTT.
