The veteran premium pick: a Z-Wave (EU 868MHz) dimmer that auto-calibrates to the load, works on UK 2-wire no-neutral circuits (bypass needed below 25W), and is rock-solid under Z-Wave JS. It needs a deeper back box than most modules — Fibaro specs a 60mm minimum depth, so measure before buying if your pattress is a shallow 16mm or 25mm can. At around £53-55 it costs more than Candeo's Zigbee dimmer module (£39.99), trading Zigbee's simpler mesh setup for Z-Wave's stronger through-wall range and a genuine second scene-controller input Zigbee modules don't offer. Stock has been patchy — Vesternet has shown it backordered before — buy when you see it.

Native zwave_js discovers this as two logical devices — the dimmer output (light entity plus separate power/energy sensors) and a scene-controller input node whose S1/S2 terminals fire value-notification events for single, double, triple-click and hold, independent of the light entity. Calibration has to be run from the physical button, not from HA — hold it and read the LED colour: green means a dimmable load was recognised, yellow means it's treating the load as non-dimmable, red means it failed (too little load or over the wattage ceiling). Cheap dimmable LEDs on the 2-wire connection are the main practical headache: low draw under ~25W can flicker or fail to switch off fully, which is exactly the bypass/neutral-wire case Fibaro's own FAQ calls out. It advertises S2 security during inclusion but has been reported dropping to S0-only even with a correct DSK, so don't be surprised if it lands S0 rather than the S2 it claims to support.
