Shelly's dedicated answer to the classic UK no-neutral lighting circuit: a live-only single relay, with the bypass capacitor built in so LED loads under 5W stay happy. Same fully-local Shelly integration as the rest of the range — no compromise on control quality just because your back box lacks a neutral. At £26.24 it's roughly double SONOFF's ZBMINIL2 (£13.99) — pay the premium if you want Wi-Fi's simpler pairing and Shelly's polished app/HA integration over Zigbee's better mesh scaling and lower per-device draw. At 37x42x16mm it's tight enough for most UK back boxes, but measure depth first if yours is already crowded with cabling.

HA's shelly integration talks to the 1L Gen3 over Gen3 RPC/WebSocket, exposing one switch entity plus two independent input entities that can each be set to push, toggle, or detached/edge mode in the Shelly app — detached mode is what lets a two-gang stair switch fire HA automations without ever routing mains through the relay itself. There's no power or energy entity: because the 1L switches live-only with no neutral reference, the firmware doesn't compute wattage, so it won't populate the HA energy dashboard the way Shelly's PM-suffixed relays do. Matter ships as ready rather than active — the radio only turns on after a firmware update — and a good automation pairs one input in detached mode as a dedicated scene trigger, since the relay can't use power draw to distinguish a light physically on from a failed bulb the way a PM model could.
