The current-generation 2-channel Shelly, and the multi-protocol radio is the headline: WiFi 6, Zigbee (with repeater capability), Bluetooth and Matter all in one module, so it can join a Zigbee mesh as a router even while you drive it over WiFi via the native Shelly integration. Two 10A channels (16A combined, 18A peak) with per-channel metering and cover mode for blinds. Supersedes the older Shelly Plus 2PM, which is now legacy stock — buy this instead unless you find the Plus 2PM heavily discounted. Needs a neutral; Shelly hasn't published a no-neutral spec for this generation, so don't assume it'll run a no-neutral UK lighting loop without checking first.

In Home Assistant

ControlTypeWhat it does
Radio profilePhysical toggle (not an HA entity)Secondary radio runs Matter (default) or Zigbee, never both; set by pressing the device button multiple times to open an inclusion window for the chosen protocol.
Switch (per channel)SwitchIndependent on/off control per relay channel, exposed regardless of which secondary radio profile is active.
Power/energy (per channel)SensorInstantaneous power, cumulative energy, voltage and current reported separately for each channel.
CoverCoverCombines both channels into a single up/down entity when the profile is set to cover mode; supports position if calibrated.
Bluetooth proxyConfigPassively forwards BLE advertisement data to HA's Bluetooth integration; works independently of the Zigbee/Matter profile choice.

The native shelly integration only ever talks to this device over local Wi-Fi — Zigbee and Matter aren't connection paths HA uses, so pick the Zigbee profile if you want to run it as a mesh router while still driving both relays natively over Wi-Fi, rather than the default Matter profile, which forfeits that router role. Early firmware has shown up in reports with password-auth failures and intermittent connection timeouts on device-info polls, so treat this as newer, less-proven hardware than the Gen3 or Plus 2PM for now. Because the extender role runs independently of the Wi-Fi control plane, a single unit can plug the dead zone at the far end of a house, switch its own load through HA, and backhaul battery Zigbee sensors that would otherwise sit out of coordinator range — a trick no single-protocol Shelly can pull off.
