A Gen1 Shelly dimmer that fits behind a UK switch and works on a no-neutral installation according to the listing, which is why people still buy it alongside the newer Dimmer Gen3 and Gen4. It runs locally in Home Assistant via the core Shelly integration. Be aware that the Amazon listing found is a 2-pack, so check what you are actually ordering; the newer Gen3 and Gen4 models are the better buy for new installs.
What can Home Assistant control on the Shelly Dimmer 2?
Shelly Gen1 devices are supported by the core Shelly integration over CoIoT; make sure CoIoT is enabled on the device.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the Shelly Dimmer 2 work with Home Assistant locally?
- Yes. The Shelly Dimmer 2 is controlled locally in Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (shelly), so it keeps working if your internet connection or the Shelly cloud goes down. Control and state updates stay on your own network.
- Which protocol does the Shelly Dimmer 2 use, and do I need a hub?
- The Shelly Dimmer 2 uses Wi-Fi. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly. Shelly's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (shelly).
