The cheapest way into behind-switch smarts, but the best HA path is the AlexxIT SonoffLAN custom integration (HACS) using eWeLink LAN mode — there's no official integration. Needs a neutral; detach-relay mode is handy for keeping dumb switches usable.

The AlexxIT/SonoffLAN HACS integration (no official alternative exists) exposes just two entities in detach-relay mode — the relay switch and a toggle for detach mode itself — and doesn't surface the physical wall switch's press as an HA event, so you can't trigger automations off someone flipping the physical switch while detached. A documented bug also means toggling detach mode from HA can silently revert after ~2 seconds without changing the eWeLink app's state, while toggling from the app itself works correctly.
