The cheapest way into behind-switch smarts, but with a maintenance catch: there's no official Home Assistant integration, so you're relying on the community AlexxIT SonoffLAN HACS integration talking to eWeLink's LAN mode rather than anything SONOFF supports directly. Needs a neutral; detach-relay mode keeps a dumb wall switch usable alongside smart bulbs. Against the Zigbee ZBMINIR2 sibling on this site: WiFi needs no separate coordinator to get started, but each unit adds its own network traffic instead of strengthening a mesh like a Zigbee router does. If avoiding the HACS dependency matters more than saving a few pounds, the Matter-native MINIR4M pairs natively with no custom integration required.

Detach relay modeSwitchDecouple the physical wall switch from the relay so smart bulbs stay powered

The AlexxIT/SonoffLAN HACS integration (no official alternative exists) exposes just two entities in detach-relay mode — the relay switch and a toggle for detach mode itself — and doesn't surface the physical wall switch's press as an HA event, so you can't trigger automations off someone flipping the physical switch while detached. A documented bug also means toggling detach mode from HA can silently revert after ~2 seconds without changing the eWeLink app's state, while toggling from the app itself works correctly.
