The budget pick that doesn't feel budget: 8000Pa suction and a bagless PureCyclone self-emptying station for around £219. Against the similarly-priced Roborock Q5 Pro, the N20 Plus has one real edge: infrared obstacle detection versus the Q5 Pro's bump-and-cliff-only sensing, so it's less likely to plough into shoes or cables — though neither offers camera-based AI avoidance. The 400ml onboard bin is smaller than the Q5 Pro's, offset by the self-emptying dock the Roborock lacks; water tank is a generous 220ml. It's not quiet — the dock's self-empty cycle hits ~82dB — and it's the same cloud-only ecovacs account as the rest of the range, so no local control here either.

Beyond the vacuum entity itself, which carries standard battery and fan-speed attributes, the ecovacs integration surfaces a dock-status sensor, a mop-attached binary sensor, and a floor-plan image entity, enough to build a dock-status dashboard card without opening the Ecovacs app. There's no dedicated room/zone-cleaning service — the only documented action sends raw positional data, so per-room automations mean crafting a raw command rather than calling a clean HA service; select entities for active map, water level, and work mode are the closest built-in substitute. Because this runs entirely through Ecovacs's cloud with no local control, it inherits cloud fragility: a mass UK/EU authentication failure hit accounts when Ecovacs server-side blocked the integration's app-version string, taking every entity offline until the library shipped a fix — an account-linking failure mode, not a per-unit fault, worth flagging to buyers who expect always-on control.
