36,000 Pa suction and a chassis that lifts itself over 3.46in thresholds is genuinely impressive 2026 flagship kit, but Home Assistant support is still catching up. Some early Saros 20 owners saw zero entities on first setup — logged as a dock-type mismatch (dock code 27 unrecognised) — though the one confirmed report we tracked resolved itself after simply running a first cleaning cycle, so try that before assuming your unit is broken. Matter remains the fallback either way: basic on/off/status only, no room selection, no consumables, no map. Roborock hasn't published runtime or noise figures for this model. Buy the Saros 20 for the cleaning performance, not for day-one HA polish.
What can Home Assistant control on the Roborock Saros 20?
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum | Vacuum | Start/stop/pause/dock, fan speed, cleaning mode — once the native integration recognises the dock |
| Battery Level | Sensor (%) | Current battery percentage |
| Cleaning Area / Time | Sensor | Area cleaned and duration for the current or last run |
| Mop Attached | Binary sensor | Whether the mop module is currently docked to the robot |
| Water Shortage | Binary sensor | Alerts when the mop water tank needs refilling |
| Live Map | Image | Rendered floor map with room boundaries (cloud-dependent) |
The core roborock integration (home-assistant.io/integrations/roborock) lists the Saros series as supported, but the Saros 20 specifically has an open bug (home-assistant/core#168505): the integration doesn't recognise its dock hardware ID, logging 'Missing RoborockDockTypeCode code: 27 — defaulting to unknown' and creating zero entities for affected units. Once working you get a vacuum entity plus sensors for battery, cleaning area/time and consumable life, binary sensors for mop-attached/water-shortage, select entities for mop intensity and DND, and a live map image entity — all polled locally roughly every 30 seconds but still gated behind a cloud account login. Until the core integration catches up, Matter is the only path in, and it currently exposes just a basic on/off/status vacuum — no room selection, no consumables, no map, so a 'clean this room when everyone leaves' automation using zone selects isn't usable on this model yet without the native integration working.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the Roborock Saros 20 work with Home Assistant locally?
- Partly. The Roborock Saros 20 connects to Home Assistant through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (roborock), which relies on the Roborock cloud. It works in Home Assistant, but commands go via the internet and stop working during an outage of your connection or the Roborock service.
- Which protocol does the Roborock Saros 20 use, and do I need a hub?
- The Roborock Saros 20 uses Wi-Fi and Matter. To pair it with Home Assistant you need no hub — it joins your Wi-Fi network directly; or a Thread border router if it is Matter-over-Thread, or just your Wi-Fi network if it is Matter-over-Wi-Fi. Roborock's own hub is not required when you integrate through a built-in Home Assistant core integration (roborock).
- How much does the Roborock Saros 20 cost in the UK?
- The lowest price we have listed for the Roborock Saros 20 is £999 at Roborock UK. Prices were last checked in September 2026 and change often, so confirm on the retailer's page before buying.
