Aqara Power Plug H2 UK (RGB)

Works with HALocal control
  • Zigbee
  • Thread
  • Matter
  • Bluetooth

Verified August 2026

Dual-protocol done properly — pair it hubless over Matter/Thread if you just want a switch, or feed it into an Aqara hub over Zigbee if you actually want the energy stats, because (this is the catch) Aqara plugs don't put power or energy readings on the Matter side at all, only the on/off state. The RGB ring reading out live power draw is a genuinely nice touch in the Aqara app, but treat the HA side as switch-only until that changes. It's also brand new stock (announced 23 July 2026), so don't expect flawless Thread commissioning on day one.

ControlTypeWhat it does
Outlet SwitchSwitchTurns the plug's output on/off; state also reflects the physical button. Present in both Matter and Zigbee pairing modes.
Power / EnergySensor (unconfirmed via Matter)Not exposed over Matter on Aqara plugs/outlets (confirmed absent on the sibling Outlet H2 EU and on Aqara's older EU smart plug in HA Core issue #103891); only available, if at all, via Zigbee mode through an Aqara hub, and even then it surfaces in the Aqara app rather than as a guaranteed HA entity.
Status LEDLight (not confirmed in HA)RGB ring shows live power draw and colour feedback inside the Aqara app; whether it also appears as a separate HA light entity over Matter has not been independently confirmed for this SKU.

Matter over Thread is the easy, hubless path — pairs straight into HA's built-in Matter integration provided you already have a Thread border router (HA Connect ZBT-2, Apple TV 4K/HomePod mini, Nest Hub 2nd gen, etc.), and the plug itself joins the Thread mesh as a router once commissioned. The catch, confirmed independently on both the Aqara Forum and a closed Home Assistant Core GitHub issue for the sibling EU plug: Aqara's plugs and outlets do not expose power or energy over Matter at all, whatever mode you pair in — you get a bare switch entity and nothing for the HA Energy dashboard. To get real wattage/kWh numbers today you have to pair in Zigbee mode to an Aqara hub instead (no direct Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA support exists for this model yet), and even then the readings land in the Aqara app/HomeKit bridge rather than as a guaranteed HA sensor — treat the energy-monitoring pitch on the box as aspirational for HA users until Matter 1.3 electrical-measurement support actually ships on this firmware. The RGB ring is a genuinely nice touch in Aqara's own app for at-a-glance power draw, but don't expect it to double as an HA-controllable light/sensor pair the way the marketing implies.
