Eve built its own Matter energy cluster in direct cooperation with Home Assistant's developers, and the payoff is real: no reports of the stuck-at-zero cumulative energy bug seen on other Matter energy plugs. The catch is entity placement, not accuracy — HA currently files Eve's power/energy sensors under the diagnostic category rather than a regular sensor, so they're excluded from the Energy dashboard's default device picker until added manually. Thread diagnostics confirm the plug genuinely operates as a routing device, meaningfully strengthening mesh coverage for nearby battery Thread sensors, though it won't show up in HA's Thread panel as a router the way a border router does. Because its live power reading is dependable, a solid automation is appliance-cycle detection: fire a notification when power stays above a threshold then drops for two minutes, flagging when a washing machine or dishwasher plugged into it finishes its cycle.
