Solid budget 13A energy-monitoring plug sold in cheap UK multipacks, but HA support means installing the meross_lan custom component via HACS — after that it runs fully locally over HTTP/MQTT. Fine for tinkerers; buy Tapo if you want zero-faff core integration.

The meross_lan HACS integration exposes two distinct energy sensors per plug — a hardware-computed one that resets at the device's own local midnight, and a software-sampled energy_estimate that resets on HA's clock and doesn't survive an HA restart — worth knowing before building a cost-tracking dashboard on either alone. Use energy_estimate specifically for an idle-appliance alert (wattage below a floor for 5+ minutes). Some MSS310 units on hardware 6.0.0/firmware 6.3.21 have shipped with switching working but all power/energy readings stuck at zero — a batch-specific firmware bug, not a setup mistake.
