A heating-trade staple you'll find in every UK plumber's merchant rather than an electronics retailer — Salus sells to installers first, smart-home shoppers second, so don't expect flash sales or Amazon Prime delivery. At £32 it's pricier than SONOFF's iPlug (£14) or Innr's SP 244 (£17), both of which expose usable energy monitoring in Home Assistant; you're paying Salus prices for a plug you're buying specifically because it skips metering. Buy it for what it does well: a plain, reliable 13A BS1363 switch and Zigbee router that pairs straight into Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA with no Salus gateway required.

Zigbee2MQTT's SP600 converter exposes on/off, a configurable power_on_behavior, and a timed on/off pair for auto-shutoff-with-cooldown automations — but power/energy clusters are notoriously flaky across ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT alike, which is exactly why it's listed here without metering rather than with an unreliable one. Multiple users report the device failing to register at all during initial pairing even with permit_join open and the coordinator logging cleanly, so a full factory reset immediately before joining is worth treating as standard procedure, not a fallback. As a mains-powered router with no metering overhead to slow its mesh duties, it's a solid pick for a hallway or landing socket to backstop battery sensors on the far side of the house from the coordinator.
