The power-user's Wi-Fi plug: HA's excellent core shelly integration talks to it locally and push-updates instantly, with proper 13A/3000W rating and precise power metering. At roughly double a Tapo P110 or SONOFF S60ZBTPG, it earns its keep — a local RPC API keeps automations running if the internet drops, and on-device scripting can enforce power limits without HA in the loop. Standby draw is under 1W, so running it 24/7 costs pennies a year. At 60 x 60 x 56mm it's a chunkier cube than the P110, so check it won't block a neighbouring socket. (The smaller Plug S Gen3 is EU-pin only — this is the BS1363 model.)
In Home Assistant
| Control | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Switch | Switch | Relay on/off control; state pushes to HA instantly over the local connection with no polling delay. |
| Power | Sensor (W) | Instantaneous active power draw; updates on change rather than a fixed interval, making it the basis for cycle-end automations. |
| Energy | Sensor (kWh) | Cumulative energy counter for cost-tracking or Energy dashboard integration. |
| Current | Sensor (A) | Live current draw, useful alongside the configurable power/current limits to see how close a load is to the device's overpower cutoff. |
| Voltage | Sensor (V) | Mains voltage reading, mainly useful for spotting undervoltage brownouts before they trip other equipment. |
As a Gen2 Plus device it talks RPC over WebSocket, the same transport Gen3 devices use — a clean break from Gen1's CoIoT/UDP, so there's no separate peer config needed for local push updates. It also ships with the same on-device scripting engine as Gen3, so power-threshold logic (e.g. cutting the relay above a set wattage) can run on the plug itself rather than round-tripping through HA. One handy detail: the physical status LED can be configured to colour-fade by load (green through amber to red as power approaches the set limit) rather than just showing on/off state, useful as an at-a-glance indicator when the plug is tucked behind furniture.
