Dual-protocol: it ships in Thread mode and joins Home Assistant's native Matter integration fully locally, or you can reset and re-pair it as a plain Zigbee device via Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA instead. Matter mode is the better bet for most people — ZHA only exposes a subset of the H2's features (no scene/decoupled control) compared with either Zigbee2MQTT or Matter mode. Needs a neutral wire.
