The H2 shares the H1's 8A / ~1,840W resistive load rating, but its module runs noticeably deeper — 86 x 86 x 45mm versus the H1's 37.55mm — so plan on a back box at least 40mm deep; standard shallow 25mm UK boxes are even more of a non-starter here than on the H1. Expect to pay a bit more than the H1 for that dual-protocol Matter/Thread-or-Zigbee flexibility, not for extra switching capability. If you already run Zigbee2MQTT and have no interest in Matter, the simpler, cheaper H1 gets the same job done with less hassle. Needs a neutral wire.

The 2-in-1 name means 2 gangs sharing 1 relay channel, not two independent loads like the H1: the top button switches the wired load while the bottom button has no relay behind it at all — it's a permanently wireless-only key, decoupled by hardware rather than a firmware toggle. That hardware decoupling only pays off in Zigbee2MQTT, which exposes single/double/hold on the bottom button via its action state; Matter's switch cluster drops multi-click entirely and delivers plain on/off, so despite shipping in Thread/Matter mode by default, it's Zigbee2MQTT — not Matter — that actually beats ZHA here, and community threads report Matter-mode ghost switch events with no firmware fix yet. Re-flashing between Zigbee and Matter/Thread needs the Aqara app and a fiddly pairing-mode sequence that several users failed to trigger on the first attempt.
